Did a 400 mile run today on the new Scorpion Zeros - was delighted with the performance, smooth, quiet, no tramlining. Highly recommended!!

Have been buying from these guys for awhile, pretty good prices compared to locals!
They also have ratings done on most high end tyres.
i was going with the scorpions as that's what's on mine now but the Grabber UHP seems to have better grip in all conditions and slightly cheaper:)

Best place for tyres is camskill

the variety of tyres they have in stock is unbelievable and they always deliver next day (though I think you have to order by a certain time )

Its the price that always gets me - top quality outfit

try their website to compare prices ??:)

I've been running exclusively with Pirelli in either STR or S/T form for the last 50,000 miles on my P38. I find the STR's wear out quicker, tramline more and give less grip off road than the S/T's. The trouble is that S/T's are so hard to get.
At the moment I have STR's on front with S/Ts on the back but i'm swapping them this evening. There are a few bends on the back roads I travel since I moved house that The P38 tramlines quite alarmingly (until you get used to it) on due to bad camber changes. It will be intersting to see how the S/T's do on the same road.

As regards replacement I've decided since S/T's are so hard to get I'm going to give Toyo Open Country A/T's a go when I need to replace the STR's in July. I've done a fair bit of research on US Tire sites and they seem to rate quite highly.

Hi All,

Looking for a vote/general guidance on what tyres to fit to my 2002 Vogue SE P38a.

Currently has 255/55/18v Scorpion Zero's fitted. Was advised that the Scorpion ST was the original fitment.

Have been reading many posts and spoken to a few dealers who have made the following recomendation as mainly Road use and wanting to limit 'tram lining' whilst keeping comfort.

- SCORPION ZERO 255/60/18v
Michelin Latitude Tour HP - 255/60/18v
- CROSS CONTACT UHP 255/60/18v

GENERAL GRABBER AT - 255/60/18

Advise please, or am i best to keep the 255/55/18 size... as all come in that size.

Please advise.

I have found that it really MAKES NO DIFFERENCE what "Make" of tyres you use.

The last lot I got were made by some "Never Heard of" company ..Way out East..... On digging deeper I find that this "Never Heard of" company is actually a subsiduary of Pirelli.

In other words these tyres were made by the SAME people on the SAME machines & Quality checked by the SAME guys from Pirelli that would be checking/making the Scorpion range FOR PIRELLI

I have Goodyear Wranglers on 18" rims (hurricans?) I have not experienced any problems with them. Runs well on the road, tramlines less than a Porsche 944S on 50 profiles (not mine!):eek::eek: Good enough to pull the caravan out of the mud and wet grass, so maybe I'm just lucky.:D:D
i have goodyear wrangler f1 s 255/50/19 on 1 of my p38s they are ****e tramline everywhere crap:(:(
on the other p38 i have continental sport contact 4x4 285/40/20 they are brilliant no tramlineing but fooking expensive:):)

I don't in any way view myself as having much knowledge where cars are concerned, however I was experiencing this tramlining after a couple of months owning my P38 Holland and Holland. I identified that I had a leaking steering damper which I replaced with a Bilstein, this is supposed to be far superior to the Landy original. I have had no issues with tramlining since fitting the damper.

You mean after market type tyres are made on the same production line as genuine ones. Surely not what is the world coming to? Or maybe it's the factory across the road from the one making genuine and none genuine shockers. :D:D:D:D

Swapped STR's to back and S/T's to front last night. Drove to work and guess what ?

No tramlining!! S/T's rule.

Thats defo the end of STR's for me as they are poor enough off road too. So next chance I get I'll have a go at getting the Toyos and I'll let you know.

I have a friend at Charlie Browns in Sheffield, he is the manager. He has told me, that the cheap, never heard of tyres are to wear out much faster and have lot less grip.
Must never compromise money for your safety. I think.
The big companies do own a lot of never heard of tyre makers, but they will not going to make the same quality and sell it for less..

I understand where yer coming from but I can't aggree.....Nearly every tyre in Europe is now made "Way out East".... Mr Wang Hu makes tyres in hangy wangy province fer a Peanut ... Mr Yoko comes along & says ..."Well Bugger me! your making tyres fer peanuts ... If I leand you my Tyre Dies can you make some fer me please & I'll give you 2 PEANUTS"

Result = Mr Yoko makes 100 times the profit & IF they do "Wear out Quicker" ... He sells you some more ...... even MORE PROFIT!!!! & Mr Wang Hu has DOUBLED HIS profit as well !!!!!

Hangy Wangy Province is near Skratch My Minge and they do indeed use peanuts as a unit of currency. I used wikipedia.

The facts speak for themselves. And i saw a ping pong ball exit an orafice at warp speed 5. These people mean business.

Did you know that if every man woman and child in China jumped up and down at the same time...then the entire world would...

**** themselves laughing at the slitty eyed pogo dancing chinks?

It just the same with "Trainers" .... Reebok now manufacture soley in China ... you go & buy a pair of "Reeboks" fer £150 ... (Coz it says REEBOK on the side) then you wander into "Joes footwear" & buy THE SAME SHOES fer £1.99 (But it says Roebuck" on the side)

Made by some poor old chinese bloke whos only allowed 1 Kid & get 5 Peanuts & a bowl of rice a week
Both are made by SAME bloke on SAME machine using SAME materials & Checked by the SAME QC guy

The Difference............ 1 is branded as a "World Leader" in Shoes or Tyres (Pirelli/ Yoko, Reebok ect)

T'other is branded as a "Never heard of Company ( "Winky ****y Tyres & Trainers Ltd!!!)

One man makes all reebok trainers...!! I beg to differ...surely its a bitch?

Getting very political here...End of the day, this down to the leaders of the "western" world, who made this possible for the mongoloid people.
I have travelled a fair bit and I know that they make different quality for different markets.
It is a difficult issue realy, but I still would rather buy better quality stuff. Will not pay extra for the name, but try to buy middle range stuff.
The tyres are very important on the car. See the issue about winter tyres. Almost nobody uses them in Gt.Britain. But they are compulsory in many European country. Under 7C the normal tyres will not warm up to operating temperatures. This means, that they are dangerous to drive with in winter. Most people on the continent have two sets of wheels and just swap the complete set around october, put on the winter ones and take them off in march...
