I am
looking at ashcroft and like it, but its the fitting I see costing more than the parts (ashcroft charge the same as four nice tyres and wheels just to fit) and was looking at new tyres / wheels anyway, but do recognise ashcroft is way to go (also makes it quieter apparently as well...)

I am sure they are expensive for that vehicle. The Ashcroft conversions I was thinking of are for a Series. Now noticed you have a Defender, so I would go with what they say^^^^^^^^^^.

thanks, was wondering if 18” wheels gave more options? possibly going more diameter without going fatter? even putting slimmer tyres to offset need for lift???
That doesn’t make any sense. Slimmer tyres would have no impact on if you need a lift or not.

Btw - what are you trying to achieve? Big tyres will likely impact performance and mpg as they are more unsprung mass.

Hes trying to increase his overall rolling diameter to increase the gearing on the vehicle whilst attempting to keep some form of decent driving characteristics , hence the desire for tall, narrower tyres, rather than huge fat ones. Upon reading all the responses he has taken the correct advise and opted to replace trans gears as tyres would have to be ridiculously big. Just like wot he, and them, wrote previously.
