Hello, i know this has probably been discussed before, i want to purchase some new tyres tomorrow and looking to get BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO

my current size is 215/65/R16 but have read that the freelander will take upto a 225/70/R16 on the std rim with no modification - can anyone else confirm the for me and will a local tyre centre fit these as its not the LR recommended size?

There are one or two tyre size comparison sites that might give the answers you want, they have been listed on lz in the past.

If you stick 225/70/R16 in the search box it will tell you!

215/70 16's on mine. 18 months no problem, local fitter quite happy to supply. Best all-rounders you'll get and very durable.

thanks i think i may go for that, will give me an extra 5mm clearance

These are what I was running before I sold my Freelander. But I was using Vredestein Wintrac 4 Xtreme. Very good on and off road and not as aggressive tread as the BFG's, improved my fuel consumption as well.
