What are we using on our p38's these days?

General road use and the occasional dirt track, really. Need to replace my front two!

I also have 255/55/18 on the car though all searches with the reg come back with 16's so I'm guessing it was and option upgrade at some point.

I have Nexens on mine but I personally wouldn't rate them at all.

My D2 has Goodyear Wranglers which are quite good.

Might also be worth having a Look at BFG all terrains.

You won’t need A/Ts really
Road tyres on a P38 are more than capable of bit of greenlaning/tracks. Will suit your purpose betterer.

If you must, grabbers are popular. Nexens aren’t great but are okay for the price range - I wouldn’t also.
I have Insa on front, Cooper discoverer on back (32” M/Ts). Are awesome and look the business but not for you I’d guess.

Dimensions is big factor depending what type you want.

Cooper Discoverer AT3 i have just done 10000mileson these and still look like new also they have done a bit of offroad work (well it was road really in Ukraine but i averaged 10mph for about 40 miles).

My Coopers cope with everything, even motorways in rain you’d never know they were M/Ts from driving.

Mine is running on Nexen Rodians, very quiet and are lasting well, grip in the wet is also good.

I put General Grabber AT3 255/65/16 all round earlier in the year. Not a bad price and no issues so far but not done huge miles

General Grabber AT2 for me.

I think you will struggle to find General Grabber AT2, well if your tyre size is 255/65/16, maybe they are still available in other sizes. Everywhere I tried told me that tyre is no longer available in the size I required and has been replaced with the AT3.

@kermit_rr - how are you finding the AT3's, do they give a comfortable ride? Where did you get them from and how much did you have to pay for them?

Thank you

I was replacing 19 inch rims which gave a hard, jarring ride. The bigger profile of the 16s gives a far superior ride in my opinion, much more 'range rover' like. I've not yet done motorways or any long distance but i can't fault them. I'm not driving it like a Porsche gt3 either. Got them through my local indy and it was around the £400 mark all in if i recall. Could have got them a pound or 2 cheaper elsewhere but this was convenient

Uniroyal Rainsport 3 on the P38 and Cayenne last well, good grip on wet roads low noise. 400 for a full set.

Have had RS3 before and I'd rate them similar to the Eagle F1's and Avon zz3's I'd put on my sportier cars.

Replaced the rears 2 years ago with Nexen and they've done around 10k with very little wear. Seeing as it's no longer doing huge mileage, it might be a decent enough compromise.

Check out camskill for tyres its where i get mine from. I get the RS3 for less than tyre fitters charge for a no brand
