in April we were in a car accident all the front passenger side was smashed to pieces £7500 worth of damage since we've had it back from insurance repairers we've had a banging coming from front passenger wheel no one can find what problem is , could it be because they put a brand new tyre on that side and the other side is not.

Hope you took it straight back to them and left it with them.
Longer you wait less chance of success, having them fix it.

It's been back several times and they can't find it that's why I was thinking about the difference in depth of tread , they can all hear the noise even Land Rover didn't know what it is they did find that the bolts holding wing on we're loose they tightened them up and it seemed a lot better it went back into the garage that repaired it and came back worse than ever , we now want to get rid of it even though it was a fantastic car before accident but can't sell it like this it wouldn't be fair on new owner so need to solve it asap

Why all of a sudden is it your problem to solve, get onto your insurance company and complain that the repair has not been carried out correctly. Let those who took the money find the problem.

It was the insurances approved repairer and they can't find problem and insurance has told me we need to find out what it is and then they will fix it but we are at the end of our tether with it all makes me think I'm going crazy but it's too loud not to be something the only other thing is they took the undertray off and then got rid of it and then could not get another one Land Rover are not making them at moment but I've been lucky enough to find a brand new one on eBay just waiting for it to arrive, the garage did not even tell us about that we found out when it went in to another garage for service but I can't see how it could be that.

could it be the new tyre defective? perhaps fit the spare, or change the wheels round on the car.

No just been to tyre place nothing wrong with tyres we are putting it into a local garage tomorrow hopefully he will solve it even if it ends up costing us money.

Finally got to the bottom of the noise it was the top strut changed bottom not that but changed top one and it was ok thank god.

I had exactly the same when a lorry decided to sit on my bonnet as he was reversing and on the phone I was getting that knocking all the time it turned out to be the wishbone on that side was bent but you could only see it with it off it was the long stud that comes of the back of the wishbone and goes into the rubber bush. hope this helps
