Hi Guys,

I have a 110 van fitted with BFG Al Terrain 265 / 75 / R16s, can some one please tell me what tyre pressures I should be running for road use?

I have a winch roof rack, roof tent (forward mounted) and a few other bits so that will affect the weight.

I very rarely run with the back loaded or Tow a trailer.

Thank you

Lee

If you put 28psi in the front and 32psi in the rear you won't go far wrong.

I have used those pressures on everything since 1967 and never had any problems.

However, if you are going off road, drop them to 16psi all round. ;)

According to the Defender hand book you should have 28psi in the front and 48psi rear or
1.9 bar and 3.3 bar

48psi in the rear is OK if you are fully loaded'

If not, then you are in for a very hard, bouncy ride, which is why I go for the slightly softer 32psi.

Stick with the 28psi in the front as that gives your tyres a better flex for grip. ;););)

Mike he hand book is if your running standard size tyres though. I did check that first but I am running 265/75 so it will be different

I tried running the front tyres harder yesterday but the handling was horrible. It felt really nervous on the front so I have dropped it back to 28 and it feels MUCH better. Off for a long drive today with 28 38r so will see how we g o as we have quite a bit of kit onboard today :)

I have 265/75/16 BFG's II run em at 35/45 and Mines fine. Though I use mine as a works van and have had nearly 3/4 of a tonne of ballast in the back, on occasion.
