I'm sure it has been covered before, but I have done a forum search and can't find anything?
I have a 2000 model 4.6 and am towing a big twin axle caravan.
What pressures would you chaps put in the front / rear of the RR?
The caravan should not put more than about 100Kilos max on the hitch. The load in the boot will probably be of more concern if you are like me with the van. I run the book pressures front and rear.
I go for a nose weight of 85Kg and try not to put too much in the boot as the LPG cylinder is in the wheel well, the spare wheel is in the boot and a bag of tools.
I put a chest style fridge in the boot, one of those that runs off 240v / 12v /gas with a few drinks in for the day, everything else goes in the caravan, except my wife and the two kids!
I have put 28 in the front and 38 in the rear.
Thanks for the advice on the chalk test, but I'm already on holiday and don't have any to hand - I'll have a go at that when I get back - interesting!
If you are in France, beware of loading the caravan beyond it's plated weight, if you are stopped and it's overweight you will be going nowhere
How do they find out? Do the police carry caravan weighing scales?
Yes.
