Landy garage recons my new Servo is the fault with my brakes, so i need another new one!

I replaced my old rotten one with a NRC4772 (type 80) as the non return valve was top left and dia was 276mm. But nothing to say it was the right one!

So other than diameter and location of valve, does it matter what servo i get? Could the wrong one cause issues?

Thanks

its not unusual to find new parts that are faulty, id go for the correct part number for your truck
Would it be based on the truck, or the engine? Given it gets the vacuum from the engine? Its a G reg 90, so would suggest a type 80, but its a 300tdi engine.
I'm wondering what the difference is with spec so i can confirm if i have the correct one....

As a side note, while the part may be faulty, is there any set up involved other than the push rod? Could i have missed something during set up?

youd want the one for the truck ie g redg 90 to fit with correct m/c and pedal box, engine doesnt matter

hmm...
How do i match these up then?
Parts book shows 2 servos on page 582, with only notes being Type 50 or 80 and the dia difference
I've just seen another page that shows a different servo number STC442 from HA7 to LA9 (my 90 is an FA41, so too late for mine).

For the master, the original parts book (page 582) just shows one master cylinder NRC9529 but the later one (for STC442) shows STC441.

The ones i fitted were the type 80 and NRC9529. I have no idea what pedal box i have....

Appreciate any help here to save me wasting more pennies buying the wrong thing!

Photo below is of the servo that came off my defender before i replaced it. The bolts sheared off which is why i ordered the replacement originally.

nrc9529 is m/c which was original stc2878 type 50 227mm valve bottom right,or nrc4772 type 80 276mm valve top left

STC2878...thats another number then! haha My book says Type 50 is NRC4775. Is that different from the SRC2878 you've noted?

I dont have my original one anymore to measure it. The valve could be top left or bottom right depending what way i hold it. I assumed its orientation from the writing on the sticker... but maybe that was a bad idea. Looking back at old photos of my engine bay, the servo was orientated in the way shown in my photo above. Maybe it was upside down? Would that matter?

Having googled STC2878, i can see its "to 1990" with VIN up to HA70, so i guess thats the one for me, along with NRC9529? But as above, that would mean the valve is then bottom right when originally it was top left!

I am very confused by this!

Thanks for all the help Jamesmartin.

Looking at this link:

and all my old photos, i'm confident i had a Type 80 originally as it is wider and not as fat as the type 50s look.

While type 50's say "up to HA701" that my one conforms to, the type 80s also say up to 1991 (my one is a 1990).

So with this, i think the NRC4772 is the correct one and i would need NRC9529 master to go with it.

Does that seem logical, or would you go for the type 50 based on VIN number alone?

theres a choice of 2 it the same m/c so if you think was originally fit type 80, it could have been either and pedal box is the same for both it changed after ha
