Hi all can any of you give me some help ? This winter a want some warmth in my 90 and was thinking about a leccy heater off fleabay, but I need the old girl to start on a morning when it's cold, so twin battery would be handy so I know I will have a full charge to start it. Can you tell me how to go about fitting such a system what to buy ect. diagrams, pictures would be good too.

Google x-eng for the charge systems. They have quite a bit of info on their site and wiring diagrams. There are alternate systems also, which I'm sure the manufacturers will have wiring diagrams also.

As for the heater, im sure it will be supplied with fitting instructions.

What sort of electric heater are you looking to buy?

Morning all, the heater I was going to get is on "bolt on bits" on fleabay, a 300w ceramic, It draws 20 amps so it can only be used when the engine is running and has to be wired to the battery not just a ciggy lighter.

I dont see the need to go to the trouble of a seperate battery unless you want to run it when the car engine is off.
even if you had a seperate battery it would kill the battery after a few hours anyway if you left it on

I have an x eng split charger it comes with great instructions. I recommend the numax battery. I use this to power my winch,spots and other goodies.

I dont have a 300 w ceramic heater, but i have to of the "plug in" ones and during the winter i go out and switch them on (connected to 2nd battery, This powers all accesories) before i go for my shower and make my lunch, half an hour later when i am heading to work the cab is warm and demisted and my main battery starts me no bother.

Use a durite intelligent split charger,no need to brake into wiring loom no backfeed problems as with relay systems with no diodes and cheap.
Relays are gay
