Has anyone fitted one of the tv kits into the headrests in their Freelander??

I am looking to fit one of the highly rated kits from eBay which are a screen and DVD player in one unit already fitted into a headrest.

What I need to know is where I could get a power feed for I the back and also how to get the wires down the back of the seat and out the bottom?

Would love to hear if anyone has done a similar install and also any info on the above.

Cheers

Si

Not personally, but I saw a fit in a vectra. He drilled the bottom of the headrest mounting tube, one of the two that go into the top of the seat. Then he threaded the wires down the inside of the seat, he used a long piece of wire from the top hole, to the bottom of the seat as a guide for the two power wires. As for a power feed, just find one in the boner, switched live, then route it through the bulk head, and round the door seals then back under the passenger seat.

Hi mate i have done this the screens with dvd have the cables through the tube on the headrest allready if you unclip the fabric under the seat takes two min then put your hand up to catch the cables and get the ign feed from the center console never run cables around a door seal major fire hazard mate and fit a 7.5 amp fuse in line buddy:cool:

The LR parts are only for Freelander 2.
It would be cool to see a Freelander 1 owner make their own custom version though.

:crutch:

LR1 has spare feeds in fusebox. switched live and permanent live. look for a spade terminal end on to the top left of fuses. can't remember which one is which, use a multimeter to check.

deffo there as used feed for strobes

Thanks for the info Gaz, which system did you plump for then? I am looking at replacement headrests which already have the screen/player built in so I don't have to hack the headrests up and it's not so 'permanent'.

Good to know there is a feed close by and thanks for the heads up on the fuse and door seal.

Don't suppose you could post a couple of pics of your installation could you? Just be good to get an idea.

Cheers all

Si

Wasn't on my motor mate was on a punters but if you google headrest screens it should give you a few links look for the ones with the screen and head all in one think the whole kits about £250 possibly cheaper if I can find the link I will stick it up
