I discovered the other day that if you keep hold of the lock button on the keyfob the headlights come on and then if you press then lock button again they go off.

Dunno if that was common knowledge or even any use to anyone but thought I might as well post to let people know

Sound good, a bit of extra security if required in a dark carpark.
Although it's not a standard function on a uk spec disco D1

Wicked ! Its the sad things like that entertains me.Just tested it and it works on mine.Im after getting the fob that controls the suspension for hitching the caravan.Just another gagget really.Does anyone know how much they are??

They are "Get you home lights", to let you see where you are walking after locking the car in the dark. Never used them for this though, instead, they're great for winding folk up that walk in front of a parked up / empty disco...LOL.
At work I bet someone I could turn on my headlights without being anywhere near the car...they didnt believe me....I won £1.

i tried it on mine and it dont work ! b*stard ! i thought i had learned a new trick :( oh before you ask its a 1996 300 tdi ? does this only work on the discovery 2 ?

Attach a big bit of string to your light switch and the other to your key fob through the window and pull.
Ok a few floors but atleast the lights would come on....lol
