There are three quite separate possible basic adjustments of the injection pump:

1. Governed maximum REVS per minute.

2. Maximum fuel delivery per injection stroke.

3. TIMING of injection.


If the IP pump has been "adjusted" to increase the maximum set REVS, be prepared for the engine to bust sometime quite soon. Over-revving diesels is a great way to wreck them. All their design balance features assumes the engine will NEVER exceed a certain speed.

If the TIMING has been adjusted, then it is probably good to leave it, if there's no great diesel clatter when you deck the GO pedal.

If the IP pump has been adjusted to increase the maximum fuelling level, then chances are there will be a big puff of black smoke when you deck it, and possibly a long black smoke trail all the time you are driving hard. This is a huge waste of fuel. Turning the turbo up along with the fuel may cut down the smoke, but the developed power and cylinder pressures may be way beyond what the engine can stand in the long term, and perhaps even in the short term.

There is no law says you have to drive with the GO pedal decked all the time. You are allowed to drive sensibly too.

how do you turn it up do you no?

The cowboys in the pub will tell you how to do it or even do it for you, then you can probably get a new engine off ebay when yours blows up.

No I do not know how to do it myself, but a lifetime of diesel vehicles has tought me well, if it starts, runs and never fails you then leave well alone.

You could always consider a nissan but then again !!!

Sorry I have not been more help but as a lot of replies to your post are advising it's something you should consider carefully against messing with.
 
there's a lot of scope for tweaking the 200/300 pumps, and if sensibly adjusted you'll see a tidy difference in performance - but the temptation is always there to tweak just a little too much, maybe raise the max revs, increase the fueling, play with the turbo wastegate, maybe fit a bigger IC - if you start this process with the intention of making your landy faster there's a fair chance it'll be you who is looking for a replacement engine far sooner than the chap who just wants to tweak the pump to optimize it's performance and who isn't expecting 16v performance out of a tractor engine
