Hello all,

Here's my first ever Land Rover. Been waiting 30 odd years to buy a teenage wish and am just loving it -
should've done it so much sooner though.

Is it just me or does everyone go underneath with a can of WD40 to stop all the squeaking?

Weeelll, like most girls of a certain age, close inspection shows up the flaws. Touch ups with the wrong white mostly and the odd bubble.
I was lead to believe it's Ivory White, but it's not. Looking into it further and based on it's year, White Arctic is the next purchase..

Wouldn't worry too much about minor body faults, all landrovers will have a bit of reaction on the alloy body. Chassis and bulkhead condition are all important, nice paintwork only gets em nicked! :(

First of all, spend as much as you can afford on security...

Thank you. Security? You bet - bunch of thieving pikeys down here. I've had an immobiliser fitted already. Guess there must be loads of posts on the pro's and con's of other methods, will investigate.

Cat 1 alarm, Tracker of some kind, Disklok, pedal locks....do your research, there are good and bad out there

There will be lots of posts. I think the pedal locks work quite well, although I have never had one.

Remote farm, garage outside the window, and a 12 bore by the bed works for me! ;) :D

Funny you should say that. The vendor also had a green TD5 of the same year for not a lot more. It was super up together and I should've loved it. Spent all afternoon driving one then the other and simply loved this one more - probably because it wasn't perfect...

Td5 are fine, but the Tdis still give good service and have a strong following.

I'm new here too & they all seem a lovely bunch, just like to say welcome & that's a very nice Landy
I'm in romsey

Banger, Thommo, K14 - thanks. Sorry I didn't get back sooner, the "watch thread" thing didn't update me. Did any owners get down to Beaulieu last week-end?
