bugger, took the landy out his afternoon and the problem seems to have returned, i have ordered an EGR blank and a new MAF sensor will fi and see if that fixes it, also wondering about an uprated intercooler?
The oil in the ECU connector might be back leading to reduced resistance across some pins, just to see try cleaning and refitting to see if power comes back

brake cleaner is the best thing for that isn't it?

I am ashamed to admit I did order a Britpart one as it was £28 an original was £150, will it be totally useless?
The EGR blank is an Allisport one.
Some scumbags tried to steal the vehicle last night, luckily it has a very loud alarm and they scarppered. Hope they don’t come back.
I honestly don't know if it will be useless mate to be honest. I have a 300Tdi, so haven't had personal experience, I've just read a fair bit on Landy Zone about people having bother with the cheap ones. It might not be all of them though!
Did they break in to it? Don't fall for the faulty alarm trick where they come back several nights in a row and set the alarm off, by shaking it or something, until you get sick thinking it's a fault and don't put the alarm on. Next time they come back the alarm doesn't go off and they're in. It's an old trick so modern alarms might be to good to be fooled.

Thanks for that, will lock it in aa shed as well just to be on the safe side. there have been a lot of modern keyless entry cars nicked in our area but we have a signal jamming box we keep our keys in, i imagine they turned up to nick one of those couldnt scan for the keys then thought they would try their luck with the defender. its not a nice feeling that they are lurking around your home. might invest in a baseball bat!

That might do the trick if no contact cleaner but depends on type
Check your grounds to the ECU as well if you have an intermittent fault
Also might be worth unplugging the MAF to see if it makes any difference
