I have had a whooshing noise from the passenger footwell on my 300tdi auto R reg. On investigation I have found a split in the 90 degree bend from the turbo to the solid pipe.

I have ordered a full set of pipes (non egr) and a EGR blank. I have been put off removing the EGR because of the 2 hex bolts. BUT today I gave them a spray of WD40, left it to soak for an hour and they moved straight away. I have not got the blank yet so I retightened them.

Is it worth cleaning out the intercooler ? how ? and will I do any damage driving with a split in the turbo pipe. I know the power will be down and the fuel will be high !!!!

It is

petrol and rags - i used carb cleaner spray too as i was doing the inlet manifold too (make sure its PERFECTLY dry when done)

wont damage it just makes the turbo not work proper, try wrapping gaffer tape around it for time being till pipes arrive

Fitted the EGR and noticed no difference.....
Changed the turbo pipe but not cleaned the intercooler yet...back to its old performance.
