Ok i may be REALLY dreaming, as if i'm ever gonna beat a scooby unless it's parked up, but it would still be pretty nice to have one in a freeby. Would make all the chav corsas think twice bout trying to race at the lights if they heard a dump valve!

Oh dear. Sorry, but I'm sure more people would laugh at you with a dump valve as they sound shiiiiiiiite. Besides, you'd be better off with a re circ pipe so you don't loser power as it's only a lowish pressure job.

A mate of mine drives a BMW 330i (I think), at least its factory spec 218bhp. He is forever getting the Corsa Chavs challenging him at the lights. Very occationally he burns them but most of the time he lets them rocket off with squeeling tyres, racing engine, farting exhuast and normally a face full of burning engine oil. He does the latter because it saves his fuel and because they know as well as he does that he could leave them standing, so why bother.

Off the lights my Hippo is terrible, as are most Hippos. After all they are geared for torque not for speed. I did a 0-60 test and got 19.5 seconds. However, if someone ****es me off when I'm rolling and I get the revs above 3000 and punch it he comes alive and gives 'them' a shock. He does a noisy 70, 85 at a struggle but is happy at 60, however he can get me out of trouble if he needs to. On another occation I was turning into a car park after being stuck behind some rush hour idiot (you know the type) and being in a bit of a bad mode I hoofed it, and put it into a four wheel spin. Nearly S**t meself!! Mine is an L series diesel with a little black box with tuneit on the side.

Having said all that I had to take my mate to work when we had that snow. Hippo had great fun while his BMW couldn't get over the speed bumps outside his house. :D

Maybe I'm getting old but I know my Hippo can do more things and go more places than these Chaved up Corsas can do, except go fast. And that suits me fine.

Where I'm going here is if you want Scoobie performance, buy a fast car. At the end of the day a Hippo doesn't fit the bill, unless you bolt a JATO unit to it. If anyone is thinking of doing that then let us know first so we can witness it for the Darwin awards. Apparently, the last account of this nature is now an Urban Legend, on account it wasn't true.

What's a recirc pipe?

What I think would sound much better is the well discussed, but not often done, exercise of putting the Hippo body on the 100" RR chassis + running gear. Then, with a fair bit of cutting, fit a V8.....:D

Ere, wasn't Bob going to try that??
