I have smooth but not fast pick up to about 2200rpm then it takes off ...
sounds about right
Wondering when turbo boost should kick in.
starts at around 1300 rpm ..
it's variable vanes are controlled by the ecu via an electronic solenoid vacuum valve
the turbo vane angle determines the amount of boost pressure ..
the driver can make a 'demand' via the go-pedal ..
but how the engine reacts .. is down to the ecu and it's various sensors ..
the td4/m47r engine has plenty of torque .. but not so much bhp ..
in Standard form .. peak torque is at 1750 rpm .. whereas peak bhp be at about 4000 rpm
best to take advantage of the torque .. i.e. if you want economy and less wear and tear overall ..
for a compromise between economy and quick progress ..
try block-shifting .. e.g. exit a roundabout in 3rd .. rev it to 3000 rpm ..
then quickly drop it into 5th for 2000 rpm ( aprox. figures )
whether stock or remapped .. final turbo boost will be about the same
it might apply boost quicker if the exhaust is modified .. i.e. decat etc .. ( so sayeth those who've done it )
some have modified the plastic air intake ( pre air filter ) with alloy tubing and silicone hoses
btw: the ecu recognizes both go-pedal Position and the Rate at which it is moved
