I've got a blue pipe/tube going from my air box to the other side of the engine bay as per the pic attached. Anyone know what it's for? Been like it since I've had it 4 years.

I'm not so familiar with the TD5 engine, but at a guess it is an oil breather. On the TDi engines there is a similar pipe from the oil breather tank to the air intake beyond the filter to feed any oil vapour back into the engine if you have crankcase pressure.

Not that clear from the photo as I cannot see what is going into but it looks like someone has replaced one of the air lines with that blue silicone stuff, someone with a TD5 will come along and be able identify it but I would expect it will turn out to be a air line possibly part of the EGR controller.

It is not an oil breather that is what the big black line with the mushroom shaped union on the end of it is.

Is it plugged into the top half of the airbox? If so I believe its part of the EGR system and if blanked can be removed. I took mine out a few weeks ago with no change. @neilly found his wasnt even connected to anything...

I did , then I found the pipe it was meant to be connected to.........i reconnected it...but it made naff all difference. Did not suddenly get a 50% increase in power, so it was a waste of time......:p:p

Cheers

Cheers, I pulled it all out along with the electronic box today. Whether that's right or not it's probably least of my problems at the moment!
