I've been offered a 2 door range on an L plate and am wondering if it is tax exempt. I have the chasis number so who would I contact to find out if it is tax exempt or not. Thanks, Bernie

Seeing as anything registered before 1st Jan 1973 is tax exempt. Yours being an L reg is 1972 i would think there is a good chance it is exempt.

Ahh, this sounds encouraging as it is indeed an L reg. It is off the road at the minute and will have to get the paperwork trail going.

L reg can be up to July 1973 so I am still unsure.

Yes, no v5 available as it is a barn find. I guess it will have to be a call to Gaydon if what I have read this evening is leading me in the right direction

I'm pretty sure that it's the date of manufacture (ie build date) not registration than counts for ved exemption, so vehicles first reg'd after Jan 1 '73 might still qualify.
