Hi guys, just bought a 1999 freelander, the 25th anniversary model. Nice for my first landrover. Just wanted to see how i felt about them and they are a good useable motor, or are they. lol. Has had everything done earlier in the year by the previous owner, head & Gasket, water pump, Timimg belt kit, Inlet manifold and full service. The car ticks over and drives superb. Running arround town is great. But i went for a 40 mile drive the other day. 15 miles into it and massive vibration through the steering wheel at about 40mph. Its still there even if you press the clutch. Seems to be between 40-50mph worse if accelerating gently. Repeated the journey a few days later and exactly the same. Tends to reset or give you a few more miles if you stop for a couple of minutes. its not tracking or balancing, although the tracking needs doing. (pull slightly to the left). only does this after 15 - 20 miles, never before. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Going to go feed the fish in the security box in the boot now.

The wheels could be out of balance?

Check front and rear tyre, make, model, sizes and wear are the same, mismatched sized front and rear wheels cause vcu to heat up and tighten and can cause these symptoms. Front drive shaft can also cause this too
