I’m going to be buying a trolley jack to keep in my Landy 90 (1996). Will a 2 tonne one be sufficient as I’m only going to be lifting a corner at a time? They are a more compact size and they come handy carry case!

those little carry case ones will only just a get a corner off the floor (borrowed one yest to help with a clutch change, ended up with loads of blocks on top of it)
to keep in, I think a bottle jack is as good as anything, fit under the drivers seat too.
my trolley lives at home for the real work!!

can change wheel , but thats about it . not much use for other work ie putting it on axle stands etc . you realy need bit more lift hight :)

I only want it for changing the wheels. Perhaps a bottle jack would be better as they take up less room? Just concerned about their stability.

you pays you`re money and takes you`re chance , yes it will change wheels but gaurantee later you will think wish it went higher. :)

not heard of anyone having issues with the stability of bottles.

Though i did drop my series off my trolley jack and axle stand the other day.

That was all bad :(

they wont go off road :) .personaly bottle jack in motor , and decent trolly jack at home . thats what I do but obviosly you`re call in end

Hehe I bought a 20tonne one at auction Saturday for £15. Reckon I can lift the corner of a tank now ;) farm auctions are awesome for stuff like that.

6tonne axle stands too. If you are working under for any length of time are ideal

A little ott but def. safe:)

The small trolley jacks like the one your looking at have two main problems
1 they can twist as you load them up so just as unstable as a bottle jack
2 they don't have much in the way of lift
So if you was only going to use it on a dead flat ground and your tyres are not to big it will do the job but anything else its no good
