Does anyone remember that episode of Fools and Horses when Trigger wins an award for keeping the same Broom for 20 Years. he then confirms to Del boy that it is the same Broom but it has had 30 handles and 25 heads?

Well, thats a bit how I feel about my disco.

I've had her for 3 years and put 50 of the 75 thousand she has on the clock without problem just 2 new wheel hubs, 4 new wheel disks, 8 sets of brake pads, new pressure regulating valve, 2 steering boxes, 2 shock absorbers, 2 window motors, 4 headlamp bulbs, 2 reversing bulbs and 5 services.

Its good cheap motoring ( Is its Bollocks) Fabulous car though, love it to bits. I plan to keep her going for another 'trouble free' 4 years until she's 10 and maybe pass her on to one of my kids when I have a new one.

Anybody else feel the same

Agree with you on that one, was looking at replacing mine but to get anything newish that will do the same will be about 20k up, so decided to hang on to it, I mean, for 20k I can rebuild the old girl twice.

When u think about it, everyone dishes LR for poor build quality and reliablity issues but then u can have all of the same issues with any car.... from any manufacturer..

exactly, my missis used to have a renault clio for a while it had only done 11,000 miles and I was replacing a subframe due to rust, then there was the back brakes and handbrake that would only work for about 2 months between rebuilds, compared to that the disco's a dream. here's a thing how many times has your landy actually broken down, mines only let me down once in 3 years, the alternator belt tensioner exploded! but it still drove home. it's not often landy's you see at the side of the road is it!

Was looking at an 07 Disco 3 last week, £21k. Very nice but at the end of the day, my 6 year old girl looks fabulous polished up and drives sweet.

That's why I had the old girl overhauled, all new disks, all the drips of oil and diesel fixed up. Cost me well over a grand but she's hopefully fit and ready to last me many more years yet.

I've given it a color cut and wax this afternoon in the sun - she's a stunner.

I have just completed my first 1000 miles of ownership with the TD5 and apart from air bags and a full service (£250) she is performing okay. The car I swapped her for a Volvo D5 by contrast cost me £2.5k in the first week, CEM unit, design fault and at the time only 3 years old. By contrast the 9 year old TD5 does what is says on the tin and I am improving her day by day
