Hello All.
Been lurking around here for a month or two since my Mondeo ate and defacated its own turbo and I decided to defect from the blue oval to the green. The Mondeo was a fab car which I thrashed without mercy for 92000 miles, but when those 2.2TDCI's go, they go completely and spectacularly.
Time for a re-assessment of my needs, and a new job at the far end of a dirt track plus relatives from Norway that come to visit and like to see the sights meant that a 7 seater 4x4 was the way to go. And what better way to go that way than a Discovery.
I have managed to find a Facelift Disco 2 (later TD5 engine) which has a few minor issues, the most annoying thus far being one of the rear dicky seats that is stuck in the down position.
The back will fold down, but when I twist the rod across the back so that the seat will lift out of its groove in the floor and fold back, the rod just keeps on turning and the seat remains firmly stuck in the down position. The rod in the other seat seems to only turn about a quarter turn, but I am disinclined to lower this seat until I am sure that if it sticks I can fix it.
Does anyone have any ideas about what could be wrong? I am assuming that there may be some sort of cable that might have snapped, but can't see anything that is obviously broken.
All suggestions not involving munitions and flammable liquids gratefully received..........
