Hi all.

My 2004 td5 defender has developed a whine above 30mph when accelerating. It goes away when cruising or freewheeling.

Removed both drive shafts in turn and no difference. It happens in 3rd 4th and 5th gear. Think is it transfer box or gearbox.

Yes I changed all oils in hope it would sort it. Mtf 94 in box and ep90 in the transfer box. No difference

Yes changed gearbox, transfer and diff oils to be on the safe side.

Had the same problem with my RRC, tried the easy option first which was a fluid change right through, G'box/T'box/diffs.
I had a look on Ashcroft's site and bought some oil as (sort of ) recommended, surprisingly the noise is gradually getting less and less over the last 5/600 Km.
