This is my first post so hello to all!
I've been looking through other threads to find an answer to my problem without success, so far. I have a P38 Autobiography, love it to bits, it whines somewhere in the transmission all the time when in motion. The frequency goes up an down with the speed. I wonder what it could be?

You could start with the simplest, but often forgotten things, like greasing the prop shaft UJs and changing the oil in the diffs and the transfer box.

Wheel bearing is another possibility and a seized VCU can cause a whine with some types of tyre.

if got a whine from the back diff when on overun.
normaly id say it was the kids in the back but its way too quite lol

ive changed the oil and its still there so just reside myself that its gona need a new diff in the next 12 months..

It's automatic. I've had wheel bearing noises before, they seem to get louder when cornering. I will check the oil.
Thanks.

I think they all have a little tranny whine, well the ones I've driven have maybe that's why they were for sale. If you are concerned at all then I'd start with changing all the fluids including the gearbag. Mine was noticeably smoother after doing that. Don't forget the grease nipples on the prop.

Pinion bearings if you get a wind down noise on overrun.
