of course it could be the seals are going it is one of the first signs that it does not go into reverse strait away and also it does not change up as it should until warmed up.
are you in the uk?Thanks teddwood1 was hoping it was just the oil but when i saw the slight leak I started to think about the seals but i will still do the oil change first, also has anyone used these oils or heard of someone using them I have two different shops saying they work and they have used them with no problems in Freelander JATCO transmissions.

what faults do you put down to the oilIt's true dextron was used in merkin FL1's but can't remember if ii or iii or other as it's been too many years since. One of the chemicals in LRN402 was banned on import by one of the most polluting countries in the world. The dextron used was said to have damaged many Jatco's in the FL1 and they were trying to join together to take legal action because of this. Don't know if this was successful. There was you tube vid's on the damage and someone flushing theirs with a machine but that seems to have gone too. Hence why very few FL1's eggsist over there from peak sales in 2002 I think. It was a case of when not if it would fail according to what they put on the web. A sneaky bulk import of LR stuff got through and was sold on a par with gold dust. All the merkin sites seem to have gone years ago. mad hat man may recall info. Sadly I don't have a copy. Must be harsh if it was causing trouble. I remember burnt oil pic's and deteriorated rubber but we're talking something like 10 to 12 years ago when it all happened. The info they had was fascinating. They sourced the rave disk for us anorl. Someone on ere recently put the wrong power steering fluid in a beetle which killed the steering. Chemistry uses some nasty tactic's.
The problem sejo_tt will have is getting hold of what we have available over ere in the uk. While some versions of dextron may be ok (never used myself) it's getting hold of it that will be the main problem. An option would be an auto specialist over there who may have access to more data.
