Hi, can anybody help. I have a Range Rover 4.4 V8 the gear box has in the last few months seamed like its been slipping. I would slow down and the gears would seem to be ok, but then when I go to pull away the gear box would not be in the right gear and would then clonk into the right gear, basically it seems like the first gear is slipping. Today for the first time it went into Trans Safe mode, it was going into first gear as normal, but after about an hours driving it slipped the first gear with a slight bang and will now go into Trans Safe mode and seems now to pull away in second gear. After turning the engine off for a short while every thing goes back to normal with first gear working, but a short distance later the same thing happens again, it seems to come out of gear there's like a short whine then it clonks into second. I'm hoping it ain't a new gear box, can any one help please.
