Ok just finished rear main seal, but sorting that highlighted another problem.

Rear Diff rotates about 1/4 of a turn before meshing. Backlash if you like so when backing on and offada throttle it makes big noise.

So howda fix it is diff worn, can i take out guts of front diff and replace into rear?

I have the identical problem on a series 3 88" !

With handbrake off can rotate rear prop 1/4 turn by hand with ease, makes it judder like crazy when pulling away. Pulled half shafts out, they are all good, checked prop wear but it's all good.

Anyone confirm if it'd a worn rear diff? Can they wear or do they just brake?

Oh yeah, they can wear..........then eventually disintergrate! That can be quite spectacular, like a metal box full of squillions of mashed up little teeth.

yu sure it aint play in the gearbox/Tbox? the intermediate drive gear is known to cause that sort of play when it is about to give up. New output shaft then on gearbox.
