Hi,

Had a high pitch whining noise from under the passenger side of the engine compartment when you switch off the ignition. It lasts about a minute and then gives off some blue oily smoke and then switches itself off. It sounds like a small fan gone a bit mental.

I started playing with the fuses in the engine fusebox and if I remove F5 the problem stops.....and I can drive around normally without any warning lights or anything. In the manual it says F5 is for Engine Management, transmission cooling fan, automatic gearbox......but the car is a 2L Td4 2003 HSE Freelander with a manual gearbox.

Was wondering if anyone knew anything about it, do I actually need it?

Cheers

PS - why Im t it, fuse F3 is missing already.....is that normal?

Yep

when the temp drops to 5deg or below, the TD4 has a nifty extra heating device under the left front bumper

FBH or Fuel Burning Heater

Hello

Virtually all td4's do this, its an exhaust vent for something or other. leave the fuse in. Look on you tube and you will find videos of it!

Many thanks,

Sorry, I didnt know it was called that, first time I had a Landrover. Did a search for it and got 4 pages of threads!

Thanks again!

The FBH was only fitted on the facelift (53 plate onwards) as part of the cold weather option pack, which also included the super handy heated front screen.

I was messing with you. ;)
Rs is a 06 and haven't got one. Unless it has been taken off lol
