Today I tried to check and top up the oil in my diffs and transfer gear box. After a load of effort I managed to get the diff fill plugs undone but for the life of me I couldn't get the fill plug undone on the transfer box.
I was wondering if this is normal and whether there are any tips to getting this undone?
I also noticed that the seal after the coupler on the front wheel prop shaft has a massive split in it. Anyone know how much of a pain this is to change?

The tip is always remove the fill plug first before the drain plug - I guess you've worked that one out for yourself now. What are you using to loosen it? Could you get a bigger ratchet in to get more leverage?
 
The ratchet I have is a bit short, I was going to get a bit of scaff from work tomorrow to get more leverage. My main concern is I can't getting the ratchet in the socket. The head is too big to get in between the handbrake and the gear box, so I tried an extension but I still couldn't get it all the way into the socket.
 
the extension bars with the wobbly head are better as you can use them at an angle, and bang it into the plug with a hammer first
 
Yeah I've got a wobbly head socket, but still can't shift the plug. Reckon its been tightened up with an air gun. Going to try the staff bar on the ratchet.

Going to have to change that rubber seal/gaiter on the propshaft too. Going to have to find what its called and where to get it from first.

If you have a larger box end spanner, you can put it around the end of the ratchet for increased leverage. I can snap a pic if the above don't make sense. Works a treat if toy don't have a large breaker bar or pipe.
