I believe that I have narrowed down my gearbox noise to the transfer case.
My question is is the a particular code that I need for a 2004 td5 ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I'm really hoping for a little direction.
Will a discovery 2 td5 transfer case be the same as my original?
Is there a specific year when there was a change or anything?
Thanks in advance.

disco 2 will fit but wont have speedo gear or hole for it, a 300 tdi discor def would fit but wouldnt have hi/low switch ,a 43d part number iab100030 would be direct replacement

As below, also if you are fitting your current handbrake to a disco t/box you have to drill and tap two holes for the h/brake drum bracket (very easy, takes 10 mins)

besides this, there are different types of gearbox output shafts, some have (i think) 24 splines and the others have (i think) 26

so you have to find out which you are looking at regarding that.

there are advantages to fitting the disco box with the higher gearing, if you do a lot of motorway milage, or dont tow, then its a worthwhile mod if you have to swap the box anyway.

as far as i know ashcroft transmissions website has a section where you can put in the t/box number and it'll tell you what it is!
