....and another question. The transfer box now selects hi neutral and low like a good un....it were just seized through lack of use.

Now it might be poor technique or operator error but it doesn't seem to go diff lock from either hi box or low box. The lever moves but just springs back. The diff lock light doesn't light.

I assume when it engages diff lock the lever stays hard left and the light lights.

not a real problem because the chances of needing diff lock are at the moment pretty slim, I just like all the bits to work.

any ideas? Is it adjustment? Is it adjustable? Of course I'd better get the haynes manual eh.

you need to remove tunnel and check linage and lever etc ,grease lever assembly and ensure linkage is adjusted so hi/lo engages both equally and the same with diff lock ,the pivot points have 2 top hat plastic bushes these were or get lost, adjust diff lock if necessary by screwing in/out top pivot eyebolt ,jacking one front wheel up helps with knowing whether box is in lock or not and allows rotation for hi/lo selection

Thanks james....that sounds really straightforward. I'll write those notes down and give it a coat of looking at. It's such a joy to have a vehicle that I can work on.
