Hi.
So I have finally got my gearbox in and the landy is up and running again! 😊
Problem is now I have unseized the linkage of the transfer box changing the drive from 2nd to 4th. But now it keeps falling out of 2wd and loosing drive. If I lean on the stick it stays in drive but hitting any bump it moves the stick and falls out of drive. Anyone had this problem? Would love your ideas.
Thanks

does it still go in to low 4wd and does yellow knob still depress giving high 4wd ?,if every thing works ok check lever isnt been hampered by floor plates and on rhs of t box is a thin plate ,selector fork can be adjusted if necessary

Not adjustable, the throw is fixed, as said above remove any mats and the gaiter and check its able to move forward fully and isn't being pulled back.

There's also a detent ball for the transfer shifter on top of the transfer case at the rear, you can unscrew that and check the ball is free to move and the spring holding it is in good condition.

4th is all working as it should. Just as if it isn't selecting far enough. You say that's adjustable?

selector rod can be adjusted a few mm might be all thats needed but try other first, every other function must work though to rule out the shafts coming adrift inside

And you can remove the inspection plate on top of the t box and check gears are engaging fully, which is fairly certain as they're being pulled by the rod that the selector lever pulls.

The common fault for this on rebuild is the transfer lever attached to bell housing on the wrong side?

I didnt think that was possible with how the lever's made. It'll only fit on the bellhousing one way

Sorrry yeah you're right, I thought ou meant the bottom of the lever going into the anchor point. The anchor point can be fitted 2 ways (Had a look under the landy earlier while i was sorting the pump on it)
