Can anyone tell me the easiest way to find this as I need to remove it to check for free play in the transfer box to get to the bottom of this clunking problem that's doing my nut in?

first time I have owned a landy and prob had it about 4 month take that into consideration pal!
and I am more than willing to take the gears apart.

Right ok so with the plate off how do you check for play in shaft? do you get an assistant to bring clutch up to biting point and look for the slack? its rotational slack that its got?
mr evil :D

put it in neutral on both boxes and rotate the gear with your hand one way then the other, shouldn't be much in it if its a good box

I had sweet #### all in mine but its only done 77k

I would have taken one when I checked but I was covered in grease…….remove the only round cover and its just a gear you'll see behind it

did what you said and when I turned it quick from left to right there was a bit of play but very minimal, what do you think
