thats for transfer box and also your axles.

if you desides to do the axles at the same time as the t/box you will need about 7 ltrs and that stuff of ebay is a bit expensive. I normally pay 40 quid for 25 ltr drum but then I got 3 fookin sheds to maintain so its easier lolol

aaah BUT monsiuer, nobody actually answered that part of my question, in my usual digressive way i managed to ask the quantity, type, trickyness and also whether i had filled my diffs up enough:doh: i got all the other answers mind:) I had assumed it was the same oil but cheers for confirming.

I thought it was supposed to be gl4 spec only, and that it is quite important because gl5 damages yellow metals?

I use ep80 gl4 btw :)

Right...

obv this has been discussed before, i thought GL4 was the outcome! and i "think" that haynes says GL4 aswell.

bit like the ATF/MTF94 argument really - if land rover had decided for definite it would be helpful.

cheers!

Your not wrong there :D

I bought a disco 300tdi new in 1995. I bought a factory workshop manual at the same time. The manual states GL4 or GL5 may be used. I have used GL5 from one year old over 78,000 miles with no problems. regards blottie.

GL4 if there are bronze bushes in there, GL5 if there isn't

So I use GL4 for my series 2a and GL5 for Pricilla the Disco Queen of Gloucestershire!

.......well that was what I've been told anyway

Best Kate

The more I look into this the more confused I get. some oil companys say GL5 is ok, others say dont use it. I will take the advice of others on this site, who know more than me, and refill my disco with GL4.
Blottie.
