hi , on my r reg 2.5dt auto the transfer box is peeing oil out , the bottom of the box is covered the oil looks very metalic dripping off the cross member , if i need another box are all transfer boxes the same ie petrol or diesel , manual or auto ? thanks in advance colin

Manuel auto i would think is different, wouldn't have so many gears in the auto i would think

petrol or diesel would i think be the same but im no expert

Just a thought, strip it and put new gaskets in all around that will solve the leaking

If it's metalic looking you have a problem it should be transmission fluid.

i guess i have a big prob thats why i ask about the boxes all being the same am in search of another transfer box

Weirdly, been doing some research on this and a transmission firm called Ashcroft, recommend changing the transfer box, auto or manual, at around 100k miles,

It is a good site and has DIY kits for self maintenance of simple stuff. Worth a look as give a lot of information on the boxes and other transmission things.

ashcrofts are the land rover gearbox people with an international reputation

yet are very helpful with lots of knowlege

if they say changer at 100K then who is to argue
