timtheenchanteruk Well-Known Member Sep 3, 2012 #3 gearbox = ATF = red (usually) the transfer box is a normal mineral gear oil, so is, well, oily coloured I dislike ATF now, cos the stuff doesn't come off, I managed to bathe in the stuff doing my G/B oil. I swear I still smell of it a week later.

mundungus Active Member Sep 3, 2012 #4 ATF is also a very thin oil, only slightly thicker than water, whereas gear oil is really viscous like treacle.

9 90Steve Member Sep 4, 2012 #5 Whoops!!!! got me boxes mixed up and thought the gear box had gear oil in it, Sorted now put new atf in it. Thanks for replys Steve
