Having changed the intermediate shaft o-ring a while back successfully I need to turn my attention to another leak.
My next port of call is the sump gasket, it has one of them extended sumps rather than the flat plate. To be honest I'm having trouble actually locating the leak and as sump gasket seems to be the cheapest option I am starting there.
Any other likely suspects?
Should mention the exhaust centre section gets covered in oil somehow when driving.
 
Without being patronising is it definitely a transfer box leak? I replaced a section of exhaust today and found out why my disc handbrake conversion is not really working currently. the whole of the underside, handbrake disc included is covered in PAS fluid from the power steering leak I know I have and have been ignoring and just topping it!

100% sure as the gearbox has red ATF in it, although there is much debate elsewhere if that is best option.

Been running atf in my lt77 for years, good as gold, when the gear change is not as nice as normal thats when I change it.
I tried the MT stuff and shortly after changed back, I tried the posh syn stuff meant for r380s, I changed back asap, atf just seems to work.

My son has atf in his lt77, mine is r380 which should have the MT stuff in it according to some places atf is also fine. It's due a change this year, undecided what to use at the moment.

I did try that posh difflock oil in a td5 r380 I had, I reckon it was the best it had ever been.
 
R380 = MTF94 with Lubeguard yellow, as good as it gets IMO. Silky smooth minus temps from start, to barrelling down amotorway in the summer all good.15 years on no complaints,

I put atf in my td5 r380 as that’s all I had and quite quickly got notchy on gear changes. Changed it for smith and Allen mtf94 and the gear changes improved immediately
 
After doing the intermediate shaft o-ring replacement it could be leaking again - my experience anyway
 
Believe it or not I thought mine was leaking, turned out to be my rocker cover gasket! It seems to need doing roughly every 20k, so I do the injector loom at the same time, I'm due one now actually, and right on cue, the bottom of my bellhousing and transfer box are all lightly misted in oil.

Oh and I use atf dexron 3 in my r380, loves it!

I think I have found it though, fingers crossed.
The overdrive has a very small grub screw type drain plug and it looks to be running through the treads on that, doesn't have a seal.
As it drips the rotation of the hand brake drum blows the oil against the exhaust and chassis rail.
Sounds plausible, maybe, what do we think?
