Front transfer box bearing is firmly stuck. I'm trying to shift it with a slide hammer attached to the shaft as per the excellent busterbus guide. The bearing has failed big time - totally dry, half the balls have dropped back out of the race and no matter how much hammering it just won't shift. Short of explosives anyone got any ideas?

Nah, still not shifting - the outer race just seized solid.Just wondering if it's possible to remove the transfer box without having to take out the completegearbox as advised by MR haynes.

Annoyingly, all I want to do is replace the bearing. Given up with the slide hammer, Think I've got an air saw somewhere - might try and cut through the outer race (there's room for the blade as half the ball bearings are missing). Then with an air chisel I'll hopefully be able to dislodge it - and probably wreck the TB casing in the process! How much is a new TB?
