Hi I'm new to this group, my freelander needs a new transfer box, if I can source one where can I get it fitted at reasonable cost in the Crawley/east grinstead area. 05 reg td4

LOL - it's commonly known as the IRD [Intermediate Reduction Drive]

If you've got a socket set with an assortment of extension pieces and a bit of pipe to put over the ratchet to get a bit of leverage - you can do it yourself. It is basically like mechano - about 20 bolts holding it in place. Pop the CV joint out and 2 coolant hoses. No gaskets or seals to worry about. Access is restricted though - you have to do it from under the car - if you have an inspection pit its not to difficult.
