HI I've got a discovery 1 300tdi and the running gear is a R380 5 speed manual gearbox and the transfer box is an RATIO of 1.2 I'm looking into putting a defender transfer box in RATIO of 1.4 I do a lot of town driving and I'm finding the 1.2 a little to high geared, setting off so was wondering how much will I lose out on motorway driving?? ps the engine runs sound and I've turned the fuel pump up so loads more power.

You'll be hitting the rev limiter earlier, the vehicle will be slower and if you try to maintain the speeds you had before you'll use more fuel.

You can't have the benefits without the corresponding costs.

I've got the 1.410 box fitted but then I've got 35s too.

Looking at the same combo on mine.How do you find it,any pit falls..?

Seems fine - very happy with it. The usual pitfalls are from buying 2nd hand boxes.
