Hi All, My much loved 2006 L322 3.0TD6 (160K miles) is coming up with the dreaded Trans Failsafe Mode after about 10minutes of driving presumably when the Transmission Oil gets upto temperature. Currently resets and drives OK after Key Off and 15minutes cooling needless to say I'm not currently driving it in case of a complete Transmission Failure. Reading the forums it looks like the Transmission is on the way out  just wondering if anyone has any experience of a rebuilt box and looking For Automatic Transmission Rebuild Recommendations in Yorkshire.

get it properly code read, may not need a full rebuild
Thanks, sorry for late reply I've been working away and the car has been sat for a week, I had the code read by a local tech on my doorstep which came up as Transmission Control Module Error i'm presuming he just had a generic code reader. I started the car up and went for a 20-30 minute gentle drive with a mix of motorway and urban driving and the error hasn't reappear but the car feels lumpy in the lower gears and feels like it's miss-firing it was reluctant to shift up the first time I got it to 50mph, eased off at 70mph to 55mph to make sure the revs dropped back which they did. Stealership was no help and said that unless the error came back it would be difficult to diagnose but still quite happy to charge £192 for Diagnostics if I book it into the garage. Can anyone recommend any Good Land Rover Indie's in Yorkshire?

You could drop the oil look for métal shiny bits in the oil and then drop the oil pan and inspect it. Any metal and it's rebuild time. It may need a filter and oil change. A blocked filter will restrict oil and can create heat in the box. Just a thought.

+1 on Mark's comment. Also it might be something as simple as the temp sensor gone/going bad.

Simple question, is the fluid up to level? If not, it will overheat quickly and cause all sorts of other issues.
