Hello,
Can anyone help or recommended someone who can solve this problem? We have a Range Rover 4.4 2005, we bought it last August and never had a problem until it started to get cold weather. Sometimes it wont start and when I do eventually get it started it will come up Trans Fail safe mode and will be in limp mode, so I have to keep turning it off and re starting until that message doesn't appear. Once it is warmed up there isn't a problem, the car will start and not be a problem for the rest of the day!

How long has this been happening, have you had diagnostics on it, are there any other messages or issues?

Addit: And what work had you had done , just before it started happening?

Low battery volts is the most likely cause. Cold weather always finds a weak battery and low volts can throw many faults on these cars.
 
How long has this been happening, have you had diagnostics on it, are there any other messages or issues?

Thanks for the reply, it has only just started to happen, no work has been done to it before, mechanical wise. I wanted to ask on here before I went ahead and did anything, also haven't had a diagnostics on it .

I was thinking the same, this has only just started to happen and I know a slight fault on the battery is all these cars need for problems to occur!

For those who come after, how long is 'just started', a day a week, a couple of weeks, once, twice, a dozen? Any servkces, oil changes done? And diagnostics will probably be repeated several gimes as different ideas come up ;)

Just started as in within last few days, not done an oil change yet or had diagnostics done, got a disabled wife and with me being her carer time is short atm!

It is easiest to start with diagnostics. That and a good battery are the basics with these vehicles.
 
Not sure of the age of the battery, but have tested it and it was spot on, that was a puzzle too as I thought it would be low!
Forgot to ask , what was 'spot on' reading? These beasts have virtually zero tolerance to drop in battery.

it was 12.2 or something when not running and went up to 14 when running, which I thought was ok, this was last weekend. but still think a new one will help though!

12.2 is not enough.

12.6 is a healthy battery, and yes the margins are really that small, the L322 is a fickle beast/
