hi I need to fit a trailer beeper unit to my 2003 TD4 bmw engine were and how do I go about it you know that so when towing my trailer I will know if the indicators are working on the trailer thanks to any replies

All wiring is in place on the Freelander 1 so that if you fit the 4 pin flasher unit, the trailer light will flash on the dashboard when trailer is connected and indicating ! No wiring needed. You could put a bleeper across the lamp if you so wished. You'll need the 4 pin flasher unit for a trailer and that fits the Freelander. Flasher is in box by drivers knee.

I believe that it is a standard 4 pin flasher for a trailer. I pinched mine out of another Freelander, but I think most accessory shops should do one. The one in there has 3 pins. To make it easier for you - drop the drivers side glove box. Remove the fuse box lid and the flasher relay is the right hand square box on the bottom row. !!!

BTW - you are not 'thick' - questions are only hard when you don't know the answers - when you know the answers they are easy !!!

First flash without trailer is normal but just the one. When trailer connected it should flash all the time when indicating.

its flashes all time when indicating without trailer is there any checks I can do

The flasher unit doesn't sound accurately calibrated, or the indicators are taking more power than they should, which is unlikely.

The flasher unit should monitor the power consumption, and flash the dash light when it sees the extra power draw of the trailer bulbs. If it's flashing all the time, it suggests that it's not accurately calibrated.

When I first got mine, the trailer lamp didn’t work but I got a Hella flasher relay from a local dismantlers and it works as it should now.

up date on flasher got the land rover electrics with the multi plug and fitted "but" warning light still flashes all the time even without trailer on does it have be calibrated or something NOTE trailer has L E D lights does that make a difference

The warning lamp is supposed to flash once when indicating without a trailer connected, mine does not do this and it never has, but functions correctly when coupled up. As for led lights on the trailer, not certain but a reduced current draw could well cause an issue. Someone with more knowledge of the Hippo electrics may disagree. Have you tried the Hella flasher unit? It worked for me.

Is the flasher unit a Hella or Lucas unit, if not it sounds like it's not working correctly
