Is it legal to have a motor trade policy and not be in the motor trade at all.ive just sold my land rover to somebody and they said there not in the motors trade but he has trade insurance and he's used the traders part of the log book and it's put into a motor trade name.when he isnt a trade.is all that legal or not

buying and selling etc.how come hes got motor trade insurance so he can just jump in any car that hes bought and be insured when he doesnt actualy buy or sell cars,or anything like that at all.surely that insurance is for cars ur buying and selling.not just the 1 u own and want to drive around in.haveing a traders policy as ur only everyday insurance policy and not in the trade with no other policy, with how strict insurance is now a days i wudnt have thought that was ok, but thats his problem the only thing that realy bothers me is hes got the new keeper bit of the logbook.so until he sells it or wot ever hes guna do with its in my name.not the made up motor trade name hes put on the bit ive got.

If you send the traders bit to dvla your responsibility ends,

He could be doing sales, service and repair part time.
it would be upto trade insurance to verify his motor trade connections.

DVLA ARE ****E-send recorded delivery and forget about it

He defiantly wasn't doin anything with cars he don't no anything lol.so basically any1 can have a traders policy

Its a lot more than £350 :) And it motor trade use only not private use. You have to inform them of cars for private use and they have to be added to the insurance database

So ask for the drive other cars third party clause to be put on.

So long as someone else has the vehicle in question insured you can drive it then.

my ins co say i can drive anything 3rd party insured or not, all they advised was if i was to leave the vehicle it wouldn't be insured and any issues would be the problem of the registered keeper

Got same thing covered for any vehicle I drive with insurance yours mine or who ever's plus rentals $25 extra a years

make sure of that, normally the other vehicle must be insured before you can legally drive it using your own insurance.

back in 2000 my traders policy was £450 any car bike or truck, its now £2000, no m/c and gvw limit at 16tonne robbing bastids
