I had play in the tie rod ends as an advisory on the MoT, so I've ordered a new Lemforder one. However, from the pic on the website I looks like it doesn't come with the nuts - can anytel me what thread are they please? Looks M8ish....
Thanks Kev, it may come with them anyway but I'll get a few in, just in case.Should be M12.

Thats correct track rod ball joints are near side LH thread offside is RH thread. We bought a complete track rod and the thread on the ball joints were different at each end!
We pointed this out and they sent another one, it was the same as the first one. On the upside there is now a spare in the shed.
Sorry, I was talking about the nylon lock nut which holds the track rod end to the steering knuckle.Thats correct track rod ball joints are near side LH thread offside is RH thread.
D1s steering only has a drag link and a track rod, the end ball joints x 4 are similar but the near side is LH thread, all have a M12 securing nut on top, castle or nylock.@Spong The Tie rod end locking nuts to track rod ends on D1s & Defenders are 11/16 unf. I dont have a D2 here atm to go & check the threads so im not 100% they are the same atm.
The M12 are the locking nuts for the ball joint side, original post was looking for tie rod nuts not track rod nuts.
Or did I miss somit.
I'm after the nuts to go on the ball joints on each end of the tie rod, rather than the locking nuts for the rod length adjustment (item 9 on the diagram you linked).@Spong The Tie rod end locking nuts to track rod ends on D1s & Defenders are 11/16 unf. The rod adjusting clamps have nut & bolt but that is 1/4 unf.
Anyway agreed this thread has gone off topic some what, the OP clearly states “tie rod ends as an advisory” but the thread title is “track rod end nuts”
And to confuse things even further I misread above and thought you'd put the link to the LR site, when actually it was @jamesDiscoTD5 ! Anyway, got the answer I needed - thanks all.Yup agreed wee bit crossed wires lol & the locking nut on the drag link to track rod is what thread size.
This thread has cross threads
I know what u mean as I have a car in the garage that has a lock nut on the ball joint thread that enters the track tube.Yup agreed wee bit crossed wires lol & the locking nut on the drag link to track rod is what thread size.

...and that's the one bit that doesn't come in a "complete" kit as I spent a little time today taking mine out of the old track rod to put it into the new one!I know what u mean as I have a car in the garage that has a lock nut on the ball joint thread that enters the track tube.
Unlike the D1 which uses a clamp for locking the rod adjustment, the D2 is a wee bit different, it has this item thats called a lock flange, pic shown below .
It did!Wait till it arrives, I bet it comes with the nuts.
The one I got yesterday, and is awaiting fitting, came with them!
Thats what you need, with steering components, stainless steel is more fragile as we all know. Hopefully the nuts supplied were castled. Nylock will require replacement when removed as they are “use once only “ … it appears there are some who don’t know about that recommendation. It did!
I think the supplied ones are zinc and I've bought stainless, so I'll probably use those. Well at least I have a few spares..!
They'll be Nylock but if he replaces them the new ones that come with it will be Nylock too.Thats what you need, with steering components, stainless steel is more fragile as we all know.
