Had a look at fan its from a 300tdi is this ok I could just change coupling about 25 quid

Not for a proper one you can't. Have seen these fitted to the P38 seem to do the job. But don't fit cheap crap on it or you may regret it. Get a genuine one for £60.00 off Ebay as in Brians link.

It s already got a 300tdi fan so was going to change viscous unit

D2 fan fits, I think. Different number of fan blades but seems to work. If you can get a genuine RR one for £60 that seems a no-brainer.

You cannot get a decent one for £25.00 even decent OEM viscous units are around the £60-70 price range without any blades. Get the one off eBay it's a no brainer.

Tempted to get one myself for standby. Still got my old one waiting for a core for renovation!

Fitted an OEM one on mine last year was around the £118.00 mark i think. The genuine LR ones on eBay are a snip at £58.00. Specially when you look at Rimmers prices. http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-PGG101290 Couldn't resit just bought one as a spare.;):D

Be interested to know if it really is genuine when you get it. Not sure how you'd tell a fake to be honest. The D2 fan I have has pop rivets whereas the original had studs.

One I has doesn't.

Petrol and diesel on the P38 go different directions. Not sure about the D2 or whether it was different between years.

D2 TD 5 viscous fan rotates in opposite direction to P38 M51. D1 200 TDI and 300 TDI are same rotation as M51 and will both fit P38.
