Can anyone suggest the best towing mirrors for my DEFENDER. Either the most suitable for fitting or, the fixes needed to make them fit. Current option seems to be Milenco Grand Aero's but having tried them for size, they are less than ideal in terms of what appears to be a secure fit.

What about trying the longer arm 'wolf' defender mirrors?
Hi, thanks for your reply. How much longer are the wolf arms? The caravan I'm going to tow is 2.3m wide. I've offered up the vehicle to similar and couldn't see down the side of the caravan.

Don't know, but they are a big amount longer in the arm area, they were designed to see past the spare tyre mounted on the side of the vehicle.

Have a Google for wolf wing mirror arm or similar

The reason I suggest them is they look original if that is a factor for you

Try it 1st. I regularly tow two huge caravans and with the arms out I have no problem. The only issue is seeing behind it but even extended mirrors don't help.

The military spec mirrors work very well, longer arms on some but also a larger and curved mirror gives a wider angle, they are available from paddocks

Hi
I use the Grand Aero mirrors which I find really good
like you I was concerned about the security of them clamping onto the arms so I drilled two holes in the arms and now hold the mirror clamps on with stainless steel M6 cap heads. When on site I just slacken off the cap heads and slide the mirror arms out and store them until the return trip.
I will try to get a photo if you like

Thanks for all of the replies, very useful feedback. I've gone with Grand Aero's and secured them wit a cable tie for peace of mind. I don't think I needed to though but will keep my eye on them. Pick the van up this weekend and can't wait; got the full rig now, Defender Tractor Unit + Big mobile home :).

These mirrors from a company in the Netherlands are superb, really light (so the arms don't fold in when you get past 50mph) and fit securely in seconds.

Sorry the pictures are on their sides, they weren't on their sides in my photos or when l uploaded them
