I take it you know about nose weights , and other loading considerations?
Towing with an auto is as easy at it gets , as it sorts the gears out for you , and the torque converter , will make the moving off a lot easier, esp if its a bit on the heavy side. Dont forget your GB sticker , and yellow vests etc . I will say this only once :D

Nose weights, I know that anything you tow should be a little heavier at the front (the nose i assume) but that's about it. Hmmm yes, the torque convertor...... yes, well no I have no idea what that is. I do have a GB sticker as it happens but yellow makes me look sallow.

autos are crap fer towing

Indeed, I always thought this was the case because I never imagined I would tow anything until I bought a house in France and checked the price of a removal man and van, suddenly my passion for towing was ignited.

HI viz vest for driver and every passenger is a legal requirement in Froggy land. yu can get em in orange though if Yellow dunt suit ya.

If I was yu I'd look ere for a bit of info & advice on trailers. UK NTTA - National Trailer and Towing Association

Catey, a trailer is a trailer, your going to tow a 10ft trailer + furiture, it won't be as heavy as a loaded horsebox or the carvan, the only possible problem I can see will be pulling out to overtake in France.

Put it in D, floor it and just go....;)

By the time you've taken your furiture to France towing a few times, your'll towing anything.....

Flipping heck..... that's really....sensible, I glazed over on page two but I promise I will persevere. Remember it's the French, we don't want to be too careful do we??????

yep, what a shame she's leaving these shores, though as soon as i've finished being a mature student(contradiction of terms if ever there was one) i'll depart this once fine isle :(

Where abouts in france are you going catey? bit more notice I'd have gladly helped out as I need to pop over to Cognac sometime soon ;)

Oh goodness me no, I am not departing properly just a nice place to escape to with the family - it's Basse Normandie (you see the way I spelled that makes it look right French but I can hardly speak a word)

Everyone here has been very nice and helpful and has refrained from too much overt **** taking which is much appreciated. Who would have thought having an automatic could have caused me such consternation eh? All I have to do apparently, is drive and be slower and more careful - result!
