Hi all,
Yes I know there is mucho on this site about total towing weight of 3.5 tonnes and you may need a tacho unless its for either private use or a commercial trip under 50KM radius from work.
My question is: I'm interested in purchasing an Ifor Williams BV126 (7' internal height) weight unladed 1130KG and was just about to do the deal when I was informed that I would need a light commercial vehicle licence to tow it.
Unless I'm reading wrong I need the licence because the trailer weighs more than 1020KG. Is this correct?
I think I can get around the tacho issue, because 1, Driving is not my main job, 2, if I use the landy and trailer for 50KM max deliveries (I manufacture fitted furniture) the MGW is around 5 tonne, and the limit is 7.5 tonne
But what is this licence, do I need it, and if so what does it cost and what does it entail in relation to renewal etc?
Any help much appreciated.
